pandora's bishounen tarot a rant from the webmistress |
![]() |
Okay, so maybe this whole page isn't actually
a rant -- some of it borders on informative
-- but there was just a little too much to
say on the title page, so I decided to put
all of it here.
First, I am Pandora, and this is my world.
I'm not sure how much to say about myself...
I've done a couple of other webpages before
this one, but I've never really felt a need
to introduce myself. This site is a lot more
personal than the others have been, so maybe
now is the time! But since you're probably
here to learn more about my Bishounen Tarot,
I posted all that in Pandora's Box, so click the link to get there.
Like I said on the last page, I created this
site and deck to combine two of my very favorite
things: bishounen and Tarot cards. I have
seen one other site that covered this subject,
but I really wanted to put my own spin on
the subject. I like to think that I covered
some new ground and put my own slant on things,
but I guess that is a matter of opinion,
ne? The link to Pandora's Box explains the
whole bishounen thing, so I'll skip that
part.
About the Tarot: Tarot cards are an ancient
means of divination. The cards themselves
can represent personality traits, events,
emotions, environmental factors, spiritual
influences... any number of conditions, feelings,
people, or events. It all depends on your
interpretation. The Tarot can be used to
explore your mental and emotional state,
answer questions, foretell your future...
Its uses are about as wide-open as its interpretations.
The Tarot itself is neither good nor evil,
it is only a tool. The reader determines
its nature. Equally, the Tarot is only as
occult as the reader wishes. In short, like
any tool, the intentions and skill of its
user brings out the value of the cards. Some
decks have a darker feel than others, but
that's not my cup of tea. My deck has a pretty
light-hearted tone, so you won't find anything
hiding under your bed after you visit this
site. Promise. ^_^
I created this deck for entertainment value,
and so I could look at some pretty pictures.
I focused on the Major Arcana and the Court
Cards of the Minor Arcana. I didn't make
any of the pip cards (numbered cards) for
the Minor Arcana, so this isn't a complete
deck. I printed out a copy, but I haven't
actually tried to read them. Since some Tarot
cards are inherently feminine, and I only
used male images, I really don't think that
they would give a decent reading. You're
welcome to try, but that was not my intention,
and I'm not sure that I would advise it.
All of the images came from my personal collection,
meaning that I scanned all of the images
from my books, CDs, and DVDs. And since I
put a lot of time and effort into these cards,
I would truly appreciate it if you would
not borrow any of them to use on your own
sites. Besides, why would you want to? I
hate to be so petty, but I really don't want
to find any of my cards anywhere else on
the Web.
It doesn't bother me if you believe in Tarot
cards and use them as genuinely as I do,
or if you see them as an interesting art
form without any real power, but if you are
a flaky, gullible little thing who believes
that some nutjob on late-night TV can read
your cards over the phone for $3.99 a minute
and solve all of your problems, I would appreciate
it if you would use the back button on your
browser. In other words, if you came here
looking for Miss Cleo, you need to leave.
Now. I have no patience for that variety
of trash. Along the same lines, if you are
patently offended by Tarot cards, don't bother
to send me a flame. You have your beliefs,
and I have mine. Neither of us will change
the other's opinion, and I firmly respect
the rights of everyone to make up their own
minds.
But finally, enough from me! That's got to
be a relief to one and all! Use your back
button or click on the link below to get
out of here and on with the cards! Thanks
for wading through my rant and ramble, and
I hope you enjoy your stay here!
